Volunteer Opportunities!
F.A.C.T. has numerous opportunities for students age 10-18 and adults to volunteer throughout the year.
Monthly Socials
Every other month we have a family social, which is a big themed birthday party with carnival type games, crafts, concessions, and more. Adults and students are needed to decorate, supervise activities, play with the children and clean up. Socials are one Saturday from 12:00-3:00pm. Please check our calendar for more information.
Teen Nights
This event is for our higher functioning teens (15-21). We attend local sporting events, movies, bowling, etc. These activities are free to our volunteers( 15 and older) and require an RSVP to our teen night parent coordinator. Check the calendar for more information.
Tween Time
This event is for our higher functioning tweens (11-14). We We attend local sporting events, movies, bowling, etc. These activities are free to our volunteers( 11 and older) and require an RSVP to our tween night parent coordinator. Check the calendar for more information.
Winter Respite
Spring Break
In the spring we have one week of Camp Gonnawannagoagin’ day camp during public school break in Hampton Roads. Students may volunteer 2, 3, or 5 days. Each student is assigned a child with autism and a staff member, the team of 3 works together throughout the week. We have daily field trips, crafts, sports, and indoor swimming.
Summer Camp
Camp typically runs from early July to mid August. Students may volunteers for 1 or 2 weeks. They must be available from 8:45am-3pm M-F, be able to swim, and attend mandatory 2 hour training in June. Applications will be online in March and are accepted on a first come first serve basis. The program is very popular and volunteer positions fill quickly.
